I enjoy connecting with people worldwide - as a Baha'i, I see the earth as one country and humankind as its citizens. I love surfing the internet and am often online until late at night.
My near-obsessive fascination with words compels me to write. Mainly poetry and articles. I've published two books of poetry, "Break Every Rule" and "Leopards, Oracles and Long Horns".
Some of my other interests are: reading, research, editing and proofreading, crotchet, reggae, walking. And I love the colour purple, every shade of it!
“I am not available right now, but thank you for caring enough to call. I am making some changes in my life. Please leave a message after the beep. If I do not return your call, you are one of the changes.” I saw this on a friend’s status update on Facebook. She heard this…

‘Thank you’ are two of the sweetest words I know. I think showing appreciation is a great way to nourish our relationships. In today’s electronic age, when many people send texts and emails, the thank-you card has a special place for two reasons: First, they can be displayed and read over and over by the…

Recently I called an old friend to touch base. Let’s call her ‘S’. We went back a long way, back to when she was married and I wasn’t, and we lived within a few miles of each other. We’d known each other for almost 12 years. I was feeling good. Just minutes before, I’d had…

I’m on Facebook and I’ve thought of getting off that train. Maybe I’ll keep my account open, even if I don’t use it very much. A good friend of mine has taken this minimalist approach to Facebook and I’m leaning that way too. People who are permanent residents of Facebook-land may think I’m a stuffy,…

Sometimes I go to events like trade fairs, craft fairs and indoor markets where business owners display their products and services to prospective buyers and other visitors. I have taken out display space myself. But these days, I prefer to go to these events as a visitor because I can mingle more easily this way….

I recently talked with a friend who thinks networking is a dirty word. To her it means being manipulative and phony. I could see where she was coming from. Maybe she’s been to one of those business card swapping contests, like the one I witnessed at my first (and last) breakfast meeting. I described this…

Networking is one of those words that mean different things to different people. I’ll admit this word used to make me feel icky and jittery. I remember attending my first (and probably my last) breakfast meeting a few years ago. I remember it as clearly as if it happened yesterday. I walk into a large…
